MDIC discusses new procedures for non-preferential origin research

Brasilia (May 15) - The Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade (MDIC) held at 10 am next Tuesday (19/5), seminar discussing the new procedures for non-preferential origin research. The opening event will be made by the Secretary of Foreign Trade, Daniel Godinho.

The Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex) presented a new ordinance that will guide the investigations of preferential origin. According to Godinho, the new text aims to improve the current legislation. "The new text was drawn up with a focus on four areas: improvement and effectiveness of the mechanism; simplify and speed; harmonization with trade protection procedures; and transparency and participation in the procedure, "he said.

With the changes, the period of investigation has been reduced from 180 to 150 days and communications addressed to Secex may be made in English, French or Spanish. It will also be possible to extend the investigation to other producers of the goods, provided the declared origin is the same.

The seminar is open to the public and will take place in the auditorium of the building MDIC, the Esplanade of Ministries.
